In Loving Memory of Our Shadow 

From the moment we found you, a snarl at first,
A protector's heart, fierce but not cursed.
Your floppy ears, soft as a dream,
Pink and tender, a love that gleamed. 

Our daughters, brave, took you upstairs,
Bathe you they did, without any cares.
Yet later we learned, from whispers and sighs,
The respect you earned, through those gentle eyes.

Once abandoned, cast off like a toy,
But you found us, and we found joy.
You honored our lives, with every embrace,
Our baby boy, in your rightful place. 

You insisted on company, always near,
Making sure love thrived, chasing away fear.
A loyal protector, with a heart so true,
In your gentle gaze, we always knew. 

Jealous at times, of our close-knit crew,
You loved fiercely, our bond ever grew.
As we faced the world, you stood by our side,
In your warmth and comfort, we took so much pride. 

Oh, how it hurt when the time came to part,
To make that choice, it broke our hearts. 

But now we know you’re free to roam,
In a brighter place, you’ve found your home. 

We wish we’d been there from the very start,
To cherish your spirit, to hold you close to our heart.
Your presence was magic, unique and profound,
Our one and only Shadow, forever renowned. 

We remember the moments, the cuddles at night,
Waiting for Dad, until morning light. 

The pandemic brought you, a gift from above,
You filled our days with endless love. 

Though we grieve for the pain you’ve known,
In our hearts, dear Shadow, you’ve always grown.
You’ll always be part of our cherished pack,
In every memory, you’ll never lack. 

Now we send you on, to your next stage of flight,
With all of our love, into the night. 

We hold you close, in every sigh,
Our sweet Rottweiler, our love will never die.
