Onyx

d. December 4, 2022

Although it may be cliche to say, my dog wasn't just any other dog it's true. Everyone's dog is special and to us, Onyx wasn't just a pet he was family. Sometimes I'd say he was like a brother because he was truly my mother's child. He was always there to cheer us up when he knew we were sad. We'd take naps together and if I stayed up late he'd stay up too. He was our best friend, always by our feet looking up at us with a bright, energetic, and happy expression. A funny thing about Onyx was that he was similar to a cat, which is something I always thought was unique and cute about him. He was so full of energy but was also such a calm dog, he would pull us around running tree to tree but had moments where he enjoyed just sitting outside taking in his surroundings. My favorite thing was to feed him the crust from my sandwiches from time to time, he would leap up into the air and that would always convince me to let him have it. He was a good boy, the best boy, a Lil stinker, stinky butt, our onny bonny. I'm gonna miss him barking at everybody passing the house, laying at the foot of my bed every night, squeaking his favorite lambchop toy during the day, and laying his head on my leg to get pets. In the past few years, he was able to experience so many new things, opening up to new people, other pets, new environments, and fighting through his old age. He enjoyed his life so much, he was such a beam of sunlight to all of us and reflected the love we gave him right back at us. With all we've been through having Onyx by our side was the best gift we could have ever been given. Onyx will live on forever in our hearts and our memories.
