Lucifer, loose, hambone, hammy boy, the most handsomest bobansomest boy. The sweetest boy in the world with the sweetest nicknames. I got Lucifer when I returned from Afghanistan in 2019. I didn’t know then that he would be a fundamental element in getting my PTSD under control. Loose was the most emotionally intelligent and absolutely forceful loving dog I’ve ever had. He simply wouldn’t allow you to be sad. He was a force petter. Nuzzling his snout into your right hand to make you break concentration from thoughts and focus on loving him. He was glued to me. I needed him as much as he needed me. They say once you have had a wonderful dog, a life without one is a life diminished. I will carry all of the light you have brought me into in this life with me. I will search for you in the reflection you chased, in the fields you would run, in The oceans you would swim with me. I will look for you in the light for as long as my heart keeps beating. The bond with a true dog is as lasting as these ties to earth will ever be. Thank you for choosing me to be your momma.
